Anti Art
There is a mention in my book about how I had learned to despise the hierarchies and representation needed to have your artwork shown in galleries back in my youth. I hated the art world, and I still kinda do. Especially those who make their living off being a "critic." Well, times have changed, and there are plenty of venues for aspiring visual talent these days. Check out some of the underground and "anti-art" scenes. They're popping up all over the world. Here are just two.. one in India and one in the US.
India has the TIRAF, which stands for The Irregulars Art Fair. They schedule their show to purposely run right alongside the mainstream art shows in that country, and showcase work that isn't acceptable in the "proper" show. (Which caters to those with lots of money, as the 'work' is incredibly expensive.) Here's an article about it.

In the US, the Pancakes and Booze Art Show pops up in cities all over the place, from the east to the west coast and up and down. They have music and/or live DJs, and yes, you can eat pancakes and drink. Check out the dates for this year- they have them posted on their website.
