1972 In Music

Good morning! I slept late. It's warm in the end days of February, and while I know that isn't normal, I do like it. Things that happened in music in 1972:

In February of 1972, David Bowie recorded Starman. That song lifted his career to a new level. It was inspired by Over The Rainbow. I think about this song every February.

In January, Keith Richards jumped on stage to play with Chuck Berry, but was booted off for playing too loud.

In February, the Singapore government wouldn't let Led Zeppelin off their plane because their hair was too long. They had to cancel their show.

Paul McCartney introduced his new band Wings to England.

The US gave copyright protection to sound recordings on a federal level.

Elvis Presley does the first of four shows in Madison Square Garden, and sells them all out in one day.

ABC premiers a new show, In Concert, and its first guest is Alice Cooper.

Deep Purple released Machine Head, and Johnny Cash released A Thing Called Love.

It's wonderful outside today. Enjoy life and love, and make something cool happen!
