My Funny Valentine
Out in Manhattan last night, and I saw so many men walking down the streets with roses and bears. It was kind of funny to see all these tall, masculine dudes holding teddy bears with such serious, focused expressions as they rushed around the city. One guy was carrying a teddy bear so big he could barely hold onto it while crossing the intersection. Taxis were honking at him and people were dodging him- it looked really heavy. I couldn't help but giggle as he sweated it out. I hope that guy got laid.
New York is complicated and expensive. There's so much going on in under a minute that it will make your head spin sideways and nearly fall off your neck. I've been jumping all over the place, and I feel like a rabbit on smack. I had to find some privacy.. my stay at the hostel here (video below) has been extended past a day. I wonder what a real, permanent home feels like.. what a strange concept. Would I even want one of those? It would be like the hypothetical storybook character who spends decades sleeping on the ground, then is suddenly given an apartment and still prefers to sleep on the floor.
I'm getting excited about sharing my story now. I kept second guessing the whole thing there. Some folks are not going to like what they read, but at least it's honest. I'm sure plenty will like it, considering my life's been a testament to the fact that catastrophe isn't going to land you in a mental institution. (As long as you're stubborn.) I'm also very happy to be talking about living during the metal music culture uprising from a girl's perspective. Maybe I can finally put some stereotypes in their graves. We'll see.
I opted out of the hostel coffee this morning and walked down the street to a better coffee shop called Grumpy's. This is delicious, and perfect for a brisky morning. It feels good outside. And on that note, I'm going to go wake up now. Enjoy this "life update" video, or whatever it is. I have no idea what it is.
