Excitement This Spring!!
I'm so excited to be finished with the book and ready to embark upon the next adventure here in North Carolina! For those who've been following along, I'm about to ween myself off mainstream life (for the most part) and revamp and take advantage of my family's property to become self sufficient.
I came back home this week, and found a spot on the 70+ acre property I'd like to light. It's been destroyed by a logging company. Apparently, an uncle of mine sold the trees off to pay a woman who's taking advantage of his financial situation (which he has no more, due to her) and he had to get himself out of debt. Another family member stepped in and fixed the situation, but now we've been left with a destruction of property. I decided I'm going to fix it myself.
One advantage of this travesty is that the logging company did create a road into the area, and there's a beautiful and abundant creek running alongside it all. So I have a road, and I have a fresh water creek. I can also plant anything I want and design the landscape according to my own whims. And that's what I'll do. There's plenty of sun now, due to the lack of trees on the flattened areas, and this will be perfect for edibles and organic gardening.
I'll document the entire thing and prove that it's possible to heal the land, take care of yourself, and live off little funds. I do not want extra money, in order for me to do this genuinely. I want to show that it's possible to live a rich life and not be so dependent upon what our society believes they have to do.
I'm so happy to be back home after five years in the city. I'm sure with enough spring water, organic food and exercise, I'm going to reverse the damage that New York did to me as well!
Happy Weekend! (It starts tomorrow)
