Weird Vocals I Do Sometimes

Alright, so... there's this thing I do...

I've never really claimed to be a musician, as I do not normally inject that much effort into it. While I did grow up performing on stages and in venues with family, which does sport a few professionals,  performing for a living takes a hell of a lot of technical work & requires a dedication I just don't have. I was more of a free spirit, and it came naturally for me to tell stories instead. I do like using my voice, though. It feels good. There's a certain sensation I get while singing that I like, as it resonates inside me, through my form, and out into the air. I think this is magical. But I've chosen not to do it for a living, or to call myself a musician. In this regard, everything you'll hear from me is usually quickly thrown together and experimental. It's playtime. I'm simply having fun and letting myself feel the sensations. You'll hear voice cracks, occasional tune breaks, and beats that are usually off from my vocals if I'm using any sort of instrument. This is because I'm not in a studio. I don't have real editing software. I don't sell music. I just like to play. And this transcends into one of my lifestyle philosophies; it's okay to relax and just try things you want to try without worrying about whether or not people are going to consider it a serious goal. Not everything has to lead somewhere. This life is all about experience and sensation. And so I sing, and I often record it haphazardly.

This little clip is something I called "Beneath". I was sitting in the bathtub, and my head was locked in a subspace that housed some dark thoughts for a minute. This tune just rolled out of me and through my lips immediately, and I kept repetitively doing it until it sounded "song like". I'm not used to singing in such a low tone, and it felt good in my throat and lungs to do it. And when something feels good, I tend to keep doing it. I liked the way it sounded, even with the crack that occurred in my voice several times. Sometimes I like things a little raw.

The background is a very awful, quick keyboard sound I threw in after I'd sat in the tub and recorded my voice with my Samsung phone recorder. I took the noise out with Audacity and threw it on top of the keyboard. It's off a little. Be prepared for that.. looking back, I kind of wish I'd just kept the voice alone. But I still get lost a little bit in the whole thing.

This link is to my SoundCloud upload, and hopefully no one will pay too much attention to the other stuff up there. Again, I'm experimental and I throw this crap together once in awhile when I'm feeling moody. I'm probably never going to redo any of these pieces or anything. "Witch" is a weird little folky tune I wrote after becoming obsessed with that old song "House Carpenter" for a month straight.
