A Love Story

A silent stalker, the sun slipped through the trees and warmed that mid winter morning with a surprising heat. Sun was in a mood. He continued his quiet escapade, charming the cold right off the mountain and melting the stream. It felt good to sense his company again after such frigid days. Sun is an enchanter. The world raises its face to his, and melts at his touch.

Heat flushes the ground, waking up a desire to reproduce and grow. But it's only a tease; the frosty one still reigns for several months more, although she's tempted to let herself relax into his seduction for a day. But no more- this is her time, and she hasn't done all she wants to do. But he's waiting...

Their love is one of extremes; he turns on the most docile and dormant, urging a passion out of control. She pulls it all back again and clears away the fever after all is done. Thunder cracks across skies from their passing kiss. It's a power so strong that we, the children, feel it in our bones before we even see the action. Sun and Frost aren't in the habit of hiding their love like some kind of crime. It's pure magic, and we're all sensitive to it.

Heat makes his move. Frost lulls him to sleep again. He only complies out of his own desire for her, knowing if he waits her out til she's ready, she'll give herself completely. And he wants it all. Sun is a passionate one. He'd rather burn out than miss the slightest taste of desire. Frost has a tricky little heart, though. She might relax when it's time for Spring, allowing him to move in with ease. Or she might feel her own loss of control and decide to dig her icy claws back in, holding on for as long as she can. And all we can do is listen, and wait for their cosmic drama to find its tranquility.

He'll eventually win his command over the summer, scorching sands and burning the skies until he's had enough. He'll need her. Then she'll come back to cool and quieten things down again. Life and death, hot and cold. Yin and yang.
